Published inner floor length, longest first. Millimetres, as the maker states them.

A shelter that goes on your bars is no use if your bag touches the inner at both ends. Makers publish inner length and then nobody ranks on it, so the number is hard to compare across brands without opening fifteen tabs. Two cautions worth stating: the figure is the floor at its longest point, and most of these taper hard at the foot, so a 2100mm inner does not mean 2100mm of usable space for a 1900mm rider once a bag and a jacket are in there. And 7 of the 43 shelters here publish no inner length at all — they are absent from this list because we could not check them, not because they are short.

We don't field-test shelters. Weights, dimensions and capacities are the manufacturer's published specs, and where a maker doesn't publish a number we leave it out rather than estimate it — with one stated exception: a pole length marked from packed size is the packed bag's long dimension standing in for a figure the maker never published. On a conventional single-sack tent those are the same measurement.
