Data We Collect

Bikepacking Gear Reviews is designed to respect your privacy. We do not require account creation or collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or payment details through our website.

We use your browser's localStorage to store:

• bp-recently-viewed — the last few products you looked at, so the site can show them again. That is the only thing we store on your device.

This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Cookies

We use Google Analytics, which sets first-party cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*) to tell returning visits from new ones and to measure which pages get read. We do not run third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell any of it.

Essential cookies may also be set by our hosting provider (Vercel) for basic site functionality such as load balancing and security. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google's opt-out add-on; the site works fine without them.

Affiliate Disclosure

Bikepacking Gear Reviews participates in affiliate programs. When you click on product links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These affiliate relationships do not influence what we recommend or how anything is ranked. We do not publish product scores at all — the star ratings this site once carried were removed in August 2026 because nothing supported them. What is left is published specifications, comparison across the category, and research.

Affiliate links are clearly marked and use the rel="sponsored" attribute as recommended by search engines.

One thing worth stating plainly because it is data collection rather than a commercial arrangement: when you click a link out to a retailer, we record that the click happened, along with which product it was, its brand, its listed price and where on the page you clicked from. Outbound clicks are the only signal we have that a page was useful, since there is no checkout here to measure. It is recorded through Vercel's analytics, which does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you, and it is not tied to a name, an email or an account — we do not have any of those.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel — Website hosting and deployment. Vercel may collect anonymized analytics data. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics 4 — Measures pageviews, traffic sources and which pages get read. Sets first-party cookies and collects a truncated IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Unsplash — Stock photography used throughout the site. Images are served from Unsplash's CDN.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We do not collect personal data to share in the first place.

Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
