Most frame bag space
Which frames swallow the biggest full-frame bag?
How this is ranked
Front-triangle area at the largest published size, computed from stack, reach and seat angle.
A full-frame bag is the single most useful piece of carrying capacity on a bikepacking rig — it's low, central, and doesn't affect handling the way a loaded bar roll does. Triangle area is what decides how much of one you can actually run.
Every figure comes from the manufacturer's published geometry — see each bike's page for the source. Nothing here is a judgement about how a bike rides; it's one measurable property, ranked. Disagree with the criterion and the order changes, which is the point.
The ranking
- 1SurlyDisc Trucker 700c
largest size, 5 sizes published
450mm chainstays, 80mm BB drop, and front/rear rack plus fork Three-Pack mounts favor stable road touring loads; the low BB is less suited to technical trail clearance.
1933 cm²from $1,799.99 - 2SurlyPreamble
largest size, 5 sizes published
420-435mm stays, 2 bottle mounts, and fork rack mounts support light gravel utility loads; no dropper and limited tire clearance make it less suited to technical or bulky bikepacking.
1932 cm²from $399 - 3SurlyMidnight Special
largest size, 8 sizes published
425mm chainstays and 65-70mm BB drop keep the bike compact and road-oriented; three bottle mounts and fork rack mounts support light loads, but no dropper routing or fork Three-Pack mounts are published.
