Ravemen doesn't carry the name recognition of Fenix or Lezyne, but the CR1000 punches well above its price class with a genuinely clever dual-beam optical system. Instead of one reflector throwing all 1000 lumens in a single pattern, the CR1000 splits output between a broad near-field lens and a focused far-field projector. You can run both simultaneously or independently, which gives you real flexibility in mixed conditions — a wide wash for tight singletrack, a focused throw for high-speed gravel descents, or both for the ultimate coverage.
The German StVZO certification isn't just marketing. It means the beam pattern has a defined cutoff that keeps light off oncoming riders' and drivers' eyes. On popular multi-use trails in Europe — where StVZO compliance is mandatory — this certification is essential. Even in North America, the controlled beam pattern is simply better engineering. You lose no useful ground illumination but gain significant goodwill from other trail users.
Runtime on the integrated 4500mAh battery is solid: roughly 2 hours on full combined output, or over 12 hours on the low near-field beam alone. For bikepackers, the low near beam at around 100 lumens is perfectly adequate for careful riding on known roads and gives you marathon runtime on a single charge.
The quick-release handlebar mount is unusually solid for this price point. It uses a rubber shim system that accommodates bar diameters from 22.2 to 35 mm, and the twist-lock mechanism is genuinely one-handed. Mount failures are rarely reported, even on rough terrain.
The remote switch is a nice addition for riders who want to toggle modes without moving a hand to the light body. It mounts near the brake lever and connects via a short cable. Some will find this fiddly; others will love the instant access.
Where the CR1000 falls short is in extreme cold. Below about -10°C, battery capacity drops noticeably — expect runtime to roughly halve in sub-freezing conditions. For three-season use, though, the value proposition is outstanding.
