What this frame gives a loaded bike

Chainstay length is the gap between the seat tube and the rear axle, which a rack, panniers and your heels all have to share. Bottom bracket drop is how far the cranks sit below the axles. Both are compared against the median across every current frame we hold.

425-430mm chainstays, 7.5mm shorter than the 435mm median across the 64 current frames here. Bottom bracket drop 45-61mm, 17mm less than the 70mm median. Trek publishes no fork cargo mounts, and the frame publishes up to 1 bottle or accessory positions. Trek publishes no rear rack answer, which is not the same as no — but it is not something to buy a rack on. Widest published tire 66mm on 700c / 29in. It takes a dropper post.

Every figure above is the manufacturer's, computed against the rest of the database. It says what the frame allows, not how it feels — nobody here has ridden it.

What it can carry

Mount provision and clearance, as Trek publishes it.

Bottle mounts
Additional mounts are available under the top tube to store a tube, tool, or another bottle cage on larger sizes (when a frame bag is not installed). All frame sizes feature one set of water bottle mounts on the downtube. To allow for improved dropper post insertion, there are no water bottle mounts on the seat tube.
Max tire clearance
66mm on 700c / 29in

Geometry

All figures in millimeters except angles. Effective top tube and seat tube are the two that decide frame bag fit.

Bottom bracket height

Roughly 314–330mm off the ground. Trekdoesn't publish this directly — we derive it from their BB drop and a typical 75cm tire diameter, so treat it as indicative rather than exact. It changes with the tire you fit. Lower means more stable and more pedal strikes; higher means the opposite.

Source — Trek's own geometry chart: https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/mountain-bikes/trail-mountain-bikes/roscoe/roscoe-7-gen-4/p/59699/ — checked 2026-08-18. A dash means the figure isn't published; we leave it blank rather than estimate.

Note: Geometry from Trek’s Roscoe 7 Gen 4 chart, converted from cm. seatAngle is Trek’s published EFFECTIVE seat tube angle (75.0 on S/M, 76.0 on ML/L, 77.0 on XL), not the “B — Seat tube angle” row, which is the actual angle and runs about two degrees slacker; using the actual makes the published reach, stack and effective top tube contradict each other by 24-27mm. Wheel size is size-specific: S is 27.5in, M through XL are 29in. Trek: “internal derailleur & dropper post routing”. No water bottle mounts on the seat tube, to leave room for dropper insertion.

Which frame bags fit

Every frame bag we track, checked against this frame's published geometry. Pick your size.

Checking 19 frame bags against a 614mm effective top tube and 400mm seat tube. 13 fit.

Read these as conservative. This size has a steeply sloping top tube — the seat tube is only 65% of the effective top tube. Bag makers publish a minimum seat tube length assuming a roughly level top tube, so on a frame like this the comparison understates how much room you actually have. The front triangle here is about 1196 cm², which is the number that actually decides what fits. Several bags marked unlikely below will physically fit. Half-frame bags don't depend on seat tube length at all.

Frame bag fit is calculated from Trek's published geometry, so it's as reliable as their chart. Seat packs and handlebar rolls depend on your exposed seatpost and bar width, which no geometry table lists — the bag finder covers those once you add your own measurements.
